"This is my third installation with Stone Center. They have all been professional. Your foreman was outstanding. He anticipated possible trouble spots with stone and was prepared to handle it. Thank him for me.” -Phyllis B.
Natural stone offers rich, beautiful and practical surfaces for many applications. Colors, textures and finish choices are endless and each type of stone features unique properties that make them ideal for certain applications. Our wide selection of stone is sourced locally and from around the world.
All Stone Center natural stone products are created by nature and therefore lack the uniformity of man-made products. Blocks of stone are carefully chosen from the quarry, sliced into slabs and one side is given a polish. Pitting, fissures, dry seams and other natural characteristics are common in stone and are what give your finished project a unique and artistic quality.
Available slab sizes vary. We keep slabs in stock and also work with local suppliers. We can source your stone from near or far, ensuring you find the perfect look for your project. Visit our showroom to view our current inventory of stone products and sizes.
Marble is a calcareous stone and generally features a high-gloss finish. A statement of traditional luxury, marble reflects an old-world style perfectly suited for bathrooms, fireplaces, and furnishings. While marble is the perfect surface for pastry-making, its alkaline composition will react with acidic substances such as lemon, vinegar, tomato and some cleansing agents. Therefore, marble requires careful treatment to preserve is beautiful glossy finish and prevent staining or etching.
Perfect for: walls, floors, fireplace facings and hearths, foyers, bathrooms, showers, bathtubs
An excellent, low maintenence application for kitchens, floors and other high-use areas, granite is the hardest of slab materials. It resists scratches and acids and is very durable with regular sealing and proper cleaning. Its durability makes it suitable for exterior or interior use. Granite is naturally porous with a characteristic granular appearance which is available in many textures, colors and patterns.
Perfect for: kitchen countertops, bathroom countertops, bar countertops, floors, showers, bathtubs, barbeques
Like marble, limestone is more sensitive to staining and scratching than other stones and is therefore best applied in light use areas. Visible fossils and veining make limestone uniquely beautiful and interesting. Certain limestone varieties can be polished to a high gloss finish, while others cannot.
Perfect for: floors, bathrooms, exterior wall cladding, paving, fireplaces
Travertine is a unique stone with a rustic appearance, due to its natural crevices, holes and pitting. These natural irregularities can be filled or left untouched, but if left unfilled travertine may not be the most practical choice for horizontal surfaces.
Perfect for: interior and exterior wall cladding, paving, statuary, bathrooms, fireplaces
Its natural resistance to heat makes soapstone an ideal application for fireplaces and hearths. Its natural acid and alkali balance make it likewise suited to kitchen and bathroom applications. While it will not etch like marble, it is generally a softer material and is susceptible to scratching.
Perfect for: kitchen countertops, sinks, fireplace facings and hearths
Onyx is a natural, semi-precious stone whose beauty and depth makes it ideal for kitchen back splashes, walls, sinks and tiles, and even as a stand-alone, backlit art piece. Like marble and limestone, Onyx tends to scratch, stain, and etch, so it is not the ideal application for high-use areas.
Perfect for: interior wall covering, bathroom sinks, back splashes, wall hangings and other unique applications
Another beautiful and durable stone surface, Quartz, is heat, stain, and acid resistant and requires little maintenance. However, it is not suitable for exterior use. Stone Center carries many popular brands of Quartz including: Silestone, Caesarstone, Chroma Quartz, and Quantra Quartz. Many of these brands offer recycled, “green” varieties as well.
Perfect for: kitchen countertops, bathroom vanities and countertops, bar countertops, stairs, wall paneling, interior furniture
Stone Center can also add a custom finish to your stone project.
Polished stone features a glossy surface which reflects light and emphasizes the color and pattern of the stone. It looks great on kitchen counters and slab shower walls.
A honed finish features a satin surface with relatively low light reflection. Generally, a honed finish is preferred where the presence of water might make a polished finish slippery, where heavy traffic would wear off the polished finish, or where acidic substances may come into contact with the stone.
An antiqued finish is the most textured. It highlights veins and other stone characteristics by adding relief and a unique feel. It adds interest to countertops and bathtub floors.
